Kaapse Stories from the Mother City
is an exciting vibrant new musical revue which offers a blend of humorous storytelling, powerful and emotional songs and likable performers unique only to Cape Town. Intimate and enchanting, the show allows the audience to get to know and meet the Kleintjies family whilst giving us an insight into a vigorous cosmopolitan community that thrived at the foot of Table Mountain in District Six.
Grandpa Joe, known to everyone as ‘Pa Joe’ takes us on a journey of extraordinary events along with his family, legally adopted or otherwise- brother Bernie, uncle Charlie and precocious granddaughter Genevieve, along with a host of other surprise characters who display their hidden talents and delightful sense of humour, whilst showing resilience and pride.
Directed by the award winning director Basil Appollis and produced by Richard Loring of internationally acclaimed “African Footprint” fame, this quality production with a strong emphasis on entertainment allows international guests to discover the colourful history of the Cape and its vibrant people.
It is supper theatre with a difference and this interactive entertainment experience with sparkling music, spine-tingling harmonies and vibrant African passion gives our growing tourist market an uplifting insight into a community that can only be described “ as the original Rainbow Nation”, says director Basil Appollis.
